Innovator Borrego Health Providing MAT via Telehealth

Borrego Health is providing Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) via telehealth to patients in the Inland Empire, improving patient access and health outcomes in a cost-effective way.  Twelve clinics in the Inland Empire, ten in Riverside County and two in San Bernardino County, are currently offering telehealth services. Patients can now more easily obtain clinical services, such as Specialty and Behavioral Health Services, including MAT.

Telehealth is the distribution of health-related information and services through telecommunication technologies. Providing MAT via telehealth increases patients’ access to X-waivered providers and behavioral health providers, especially in rural and remote areas. It decreases the travel and wait time of patients and encourages patient continuity with treatment plans, assisting with patient comfort and resources. MAT via telehealth also allows people with a chaotic lifestyle to have quick access to care and encourages higher employability, since telehealth is a way to extend service hours beyond the standard work day.

To learn more about these benefits, watch Borrego Health’s webinar recording, “Telehealth: a Delivery Model for Medication Assisted Treatment.”  The recording includes expert advice on how to launch a MAT via telehealth program, an in-depth look at the MAT process, a case example, and patient success stories.
