Local Celebration Event: Recovery Happens, San Bernardino County, Sept. 28
You’re invited to attend a family friendly no-cost event celebrating the 30th Anniversary of National Recovery Month! Join us in celebrating recovery, breaking the stigma of addiction, and offering support to the recovery community. Hosted by the San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health, Recovery Happens 2019, will take place on September 28 from 10am - 3pm, at the National Orange Show Events Center, 690 South E Street, Gate 8, in San Bernardino.
This celebratory event will include a children’s area with games and adult activities such as volleyball and opportunity drawings. Music, a free lunch (while supplies last) and other lively entertainment will make this a fun day to come together and support recovery. Exhibitors from San Bernardino County and community-based organizations will offer resources, educational materials, and information on topics of recovery. An awards ceremony will also be held to acknowledge the efforts of individuals and agencies working in the recovery field.
Recovery Happens 2019 is provided through the generous sponsorship and donations of the Department of Behavioral Health, community-based organizations, and businesses throughout San Bernardino County. National Recovery Month is celebrated across the country and sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This year’s national theme, Join the Voices for Recovery: Together We Are Stronger, highlights the need to share resources and build stronger networks to support the many paths to recovery. Mental and substance use disorders affect all of us, and we are all part of the solution. Please join us on September 28th and wear purple in support of recovery!
